HOW IT WORKS

SCANNING YOUR FILM IS EASY WITH MYMOVIETRANSFER.COM

Print out an order form, send us your film, and we'll handle the rest.

Every step of the process is designed to make sure that all of your film is transferred safely and at a high quality. All transfer is handled in-studio, meaning your film never leaves our studio until we return it to you (this, surprisingly, is rare for companies that transfer film).

Questions? Just give us a call at 1-800-865-7172. This is a direct line to our studio, where we don't have any salespeople. You'll be speaking to a film technician happy to help answer any questions you have.

1. SEND IN YOUR FILM

Choose your preferred level of transfer, and print out an order form. Indicate your total footage, and select your recording media and payment method (check or credit card). Pack up your film, include the order form, check (if applicable), and ship off your project. We see FedEx, UPS, and USPS every day, so whichever carrier works for you will work for us.

If you're unsure about your project's total footage, that's no problem at all. You can give us a call, and we can help give you an estimate. If you'd like us to provide an estimate once it arrives, just check off the box that says "Please provide a footage estimate" on the order form and we'll send you an email once we get it.

2. WE'LL ASSESS YOUR PROJECT

Whenever we receive your shipment, we will send you an email to let you know that your film has arrived. We'll log all items and secure them in their own bin. At that point, we'll perform our first assessment, taking a look at each reel.

If everything looks good to go, we'll start prepping the film. If it looks like the project will cost more than you thought, or if there's an unanticipated issue with the film, we'll let you know right away and wait for your confirmation to proceed. We'll never get started on a project without getting confirmation on a ballpark estimate.

3. PREP AND SCANNING

Once your project is ready to roll, we'll take care of the rest. We'll prep the film, checking for broken, worn or incorrect splices. We'll also give the film a physical cleaning, running it on Kodak particle transfer rollers that gently lift the dirt and dust off of the film's emulsion.

After your film is prepped, we'll assign a colorist to your project and get it in line for scanning. The colorist will work on your project and your project alone, and for monitored scans, they'll make adjustments to enhance the image quality.

4. WE'LL WRAP UP AND SEND IT ALL BACK

Once we wrap up, we'll again assess your project, this time looking at the transferred footage. This QA will be done by the same person that initially checked your film, meaning your film will only be handled by a total of two people, creating a closed loop to ensure everything is accounted for.

Whenever scanning is complete, we'll calculate the exact amount of footage that was transferred via Kodak's film calculator. If you're providing a credit card, it will be charged at this point. If you're paying by check, we'll send a refund check back in the event of an over payment.

Most projects return ship via FedEx 2-Day or FedEx Ground/Home Delivery. We'll again email you to let you know that the film is on its way, and we'll forward all tracking information to you.
